Troubled Waters
Lundy Island, a granite outpost off the coast of North Devon, Britain is one of the greatest green success stories. Measures such only three and a half miles long, marks the spot where the Bristol Channel meets the white horses of the Atlantic Ocean. Its waters are full of marine life, jellyfish and sponges and out of their caves under the sea water, basking sharks patrol its reefs and rare lobster claw long called their home sandbars. These locusts are among the most fortunate of the world – Lundy is Britain's only statutory marine nature reserve and all the species here given the opportunity to prosper. Lundy's not to take areas, the first of its kind in the UK, was introduced in 2003 for groping to reverse the problems caused by overfishing. Four years later, the results have already seen. Dogger Bank. Dogger Bank is a large sub sandbar forms the coastline in the south North Sea glacial processes and the immersion of sea levels. The epibenthos (animals that live at the bottom of the sea) are crabs and fish, sponges, sea anemones bryozoans. There are a lot of slow animals like snails, snails, starfish and sea urchins. The beautiful pink sea fan, a type of coral growing at right angles to the prevailing currents, is abundant in deep waters and coral off the coast of Plymouth. Until it was discovered in 2002, there was only one stronghold known in British waters – the Hebrides. Often, increasing the size of a plate, is a major warm-water species that the Marine Biology Association is particularly keen to protect. WWF is also trying to take steps to protect the biodiversity of the nearby Lyme Bay, following recent concerns about the harmful effects of scallop dredging in the area. Lundy Island, 10 miles off the coast of the Bristol Channel, it was stated as the poster child of Plymouth out from the fishing exclusion zone around the island to protect their varieties of lobsters, crabs, corals and sponges. Evidence from the 2004/05 monitoring program indicate that the locusts in the area appears to have increased in size and abundance.
Menai Strait
Located in the shadows Snowdonia, the Menai Strait is 22 km from a designated area of natural beauty. The coast is dotted with ancient fortresses protected, shipwrecks and lighthouses, their approach is elegant iron suspension bridge designed by Robert Stephenson. Its ecology is very diverse and led to the development of animal species. Some, like one of the many varieties of Terry, have joined forces with hydroids and Dahlia anemone, and live together, intertwined as a soft carpet. Across the Strait in Anglesey, mass Twitchers tear come glimpses of rare curlews and snipe, while seals, dolphins and otters lounge on benches. In summer, the Menai Strait has the weight of an oil spill of 8 km, destroying much of its marine life.
SATURN REEF
Saturn is a biogenic reef, or living reef, formed by the tube-building worms Sabellaria spinulosa. Located in southern North Sea, coral reefs and mounted on a sandbank, pushing very dense clumps of rock above the seabed in the territory of a set of different organs – unfortunately, including vessels fishing. While the world's best-known reefs are the coral reefs of tropical waters, only a handful of other well developed areas known spinulosa Sabellaria barrier in European waters.
Rathlin Island
Six miles off the coast of Ballycastle in Northern Ireland is Rathlin Island, a small outpost limestone shaped boot full of birdlife.
