THINKING OF BUYING A MATTRESS? HERE’S WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR!

There are a lot of folks who go into a mattress store without quite knowing exactly what it is that they want to get. They get roped into buying a mattress that is very expensive and one that they’re not really comfortable with. They go home with it, with no knowledge of whether it can be returned or not! To avoid these pitfalls, there is every need to do some research into the type of mattress you need before you walk into any mattress store!

There is a large variety of mattresses on the market today, classified according to their comfort levels, materials used to manufacture them, density and so on and so forth. How do you go about determining the right mattress for yourself? Here are a few tips to help you out!

The two most popular mattress types are the inner coil mattress and the memory foam mattress. The inner coil mattress consists of coils which are arranged in different designs depending on the use they’re going to be put into. Foam mattresses, on the other hand, consist of visco-elastic foam, which is a relatively new entry into the market. However, foam mattresses are gradually replacing inner-coil mattresses, due to their durability factor and comfort features.

Comfort is the first issue when it comes to buying a mattress. You spend a third of your life in your bed, so why not be comfortable while you’re at it? If you’re someone who sleeps on your back or front, you need a different mattress compared to someone who sleeps on their side. If you’re more comfortable with a softer mattress, opt for one. On the other hand, if you’re a person who likes their mattress firm, you need to opt for a different type altogether!

Another key feature that goes hand in hand with comfort is support. A mattress that does not support your body weight is definitely going to give you sleep and health issues in the long run. At what point does a mattress stop giving comfort at the expense of support? You need to find the balance!

When you finally walk into the mattress store, be at ease and try out the different types. Lying on the mattresses will help you determine the level of support you’re comfortable with. If you have any back problems, orthopedic mattresses are always the right ones to go for. Memory foam mattresses tend to be preferred over inner coil, especially in this case.

Most mattress salesmen will really push you into buying one, since they don’t want you leaving empty-handed and losing them their commission! However, don’t feel pushed into getting something you’re not comfortable with. If you’re not sure whether the mattress you’ve chosen is right for you, ask for a 30 day return-back guarantee. This way, you not only get to check out the mattress and its features, you also get to determine whether the investment you’re putting into buying your mattress will deliver in the long run. All the best!
